“22 Jump Street” is at the top of the domestic box office, beating rival animation pic “How to Train Your Dragon 2” with $10 million. With both movies entering the box office on their debut weekend, the cop buddy flick outgunned the DreamWorks Animation in a competitive battle to the top. The follow-up to “21 Jump Street” raked in an estimated $60 million, posting a 65 percent higher take compared to its 2012 predecessor which only took $36.3 million at the domestic box office. The cop comedy starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill is the duo’s career-best, becoming the second-biggest R-rated comedy behind “The Hangover Part II”.

“How to Train Your Dragon 2” put up a decent fight, taking the second spot on the chart this week with an estimated $50 million. The animated flick is voiced by Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, T.J. Miller and Kristen Wiig to name a few. Compared to its 2010 predecessor which raked in $43.7 million on its debut weekend, the sequel outperforms “How to Train Your Dragon 1” by 14 percent.

Angelina Jolie’s “Maleficent” slips down one spot to third place from last with an estimated $19 million. Rounding up the top 5, last week’s third place contender “Edge of Tomorrow” sits in fourth position with an estimated $16.2 million, while last week’s top contender “The Fault in Our Stars” takes the fifth spot adding an estimated $15.7 million.
