During a conference call with reporters last week, executive producer Al Jean revealed that they’re planning to kill off a character in the upcoming season of the animated sitcom created by Matt Groening.
He explains:
“We’re actually working on a script where a character will pass away,”
Throughout its 24-year run, “The Simpsons” has killed off seven characters
It has not been confirmed who will be removed from the popular TV series. The clue is not revealing at all, he continued saying:
“I’ll give a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is.”
Jean explained the decision to the Hollywoodreporter.com:
“We are doing this story for the same reason we do all others — we think it has a good emotional through line,” adding that “the story will be produced this year though it may air in season 26.”

Getting back to the kill list, throughout its 24-year run, “The Simpsons” has killed off seven characters. As for the next one, almost every member of the major voice cast ensemble has won an Emmy. Let’s have a quick look at the list:
- Dan Castellaneta – who voices Homer, Grampa, Barney, Krusty and many others
- Julie Kavner – Marge, Patty, Selma
- Hank Azaria – Moe, Apu, Comic Book Guy, Professor Frink, Dr. Nick and more
- Nancy Cartwright – Bart, Nelson, Ralphy, Todd Flanders
- Yeardley Smith – Lisa
“The Simpsons” will be back on the Tele for its 25th season on Sunday, September 29. The premiere episode will be a “Homeland” parody featuring guest voice Kristen Wiig.
