Officially standing as the second-biggest opening for an animated movie in history behind “Shrek the Third”, ‘Minions’ smashed the weekend’s box office raking in a huge $115.2 million on its debut weekend. “Shrek the Third” is the reigning champ with $121.6 million on its opening in 2007, ahead of “Toy Story 3” which opened to $110.3 million. The spin-off to “Despicable Me” also took the international box office by storm earning $124.3 million with a worldwide estimate of $395.7 million.

“Jurassic World” is up one spot from last week in second place, taking and estimated $18.1 million in its fifth weekend at the box office with a domestic total of $590.7 million. Last week’s top contender “Inside Out (2015)” takes third place this week earning $17.1 million from 3,644 theaters for a domestic total of $283.6 million. The very disappointing “Terminator Genisys is in fourth place this week with $13.7 million. Horror movie “The Gallows” sneaks in at fifth place, nabbing a respectable $10 million domestically.
