The world is at the brink of extinction in the newly released full trailer for the hotly anticipated “Terminator Genisys“. According to a recent plot summary, the film is set in 2029. The Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. Reese is sent back to 1984 with a mission to save Sarah (Emilia Clarke) from a robot programmed to kill her, but what he finds on the other side is not what he expected.
Everything has changed, she says, the timeline when he was sent back to the past no longer exists. Movie geeks will remember that the plot summary described so far is as in the original with Reese sent back in time to save Connor. In this new timeline, it transpires that Connor was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Conner now raised by an older T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), programmed to guard rather than to kill.
“Terminator: Genisys” was directed by Alan Taylor and co-written by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. The flick is scheduled to be released on July 1, 2015. The remaining sci-fi films which form part of a new threequel are expected to be filmed back to back with the first sequel dated for May 19, 2017 and the second slated for June 29, 2018.
