Apart from the disastrous first few days of the latest World of Warcraft expansion Warlords of Draenor, the guys over at Blizzard must be smiling big time. Blizzard released the subscribers count as of November 13, 2014. This is up 2.6 million from the Q3 2014 call that listed WoW at 7.4 million subscribers.
Warlords of Draenor has sold over 3.3 million copies so far, up from 1.5 million pre-ordered in August.
Even better news for Blizzard is the expansion is still heading to the east where countries like China, Japan and Korea will join the ranks. We all know there is a lot of WoW players over there. Our guess is an extra 2 million?
“We’re thrilled that so many players jumped in to play Warlords of Draenor on day one and are having a great time with the new content,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We poured a lot of hard work and passion into this expansion, and we appreciate all the kind words from players and the overwhelming support they continue to show for World of Warcraft.”
The reviews for Draenor have been rolling in fast, and ignoring the launch debacle they have been extremely positive with great reviews, and a call to the reasons why World of Warcraft remains the worlds biggest MMO.
Out of interest, and assuming all 10 million people are monthly subscribers at $10 per month. Blizzard is cashing in a massive $100 million every month! They definitely have reasons to smile.
