The Daily Mail is back with another hot scoop for the much talked about follow-up to 2012’s “Skyfall”. We received news last week that Christoph Waltz has officially been cast in a significant role, and TDM says we can expect the Austrian to portray Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the upcoming “Bond 24“. Waltz, who was made famous by his villainous role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds”, is probably one of the best villain selections in the “modern-day” iterations of the popular spy film series.
The news that Waltz will portray a character linked to the infamous evil organization SPECTRE doesn’t come as a surprise. 007 scribe John Logan mentioned earlier this year that SPECTRE could make a comeback to the franchise. TDM says that Waltz’s involvement in the new film will be confirmed at a press conference to be held in the first week of December, but his character announcement will be a misdirect. Eon productions, which owns the James Bond film franchise will announce that the “Django Unchained” star is set to play “Franz Oberhauser, son of the late Hans Oberhauser, a ski instructor who acted as a father figure to Bond.” The site’s senior sources believe the casting is a “double bluff worthy of 007 himself and that Waltz is actually playing Blofeld.”
The added:
“One Hollywood source, who asked not to be named, said: ‘Christoph Waltz is playing Blofeld in the next Bond film. The tone of the 007 films has changed significantly in recent years and the producers have changed the character to fit in with the new-look 007.’”
The possibility of including SPECTRE and supervillain Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the next installment is made possible because of to the settlement to bring back the super villain and company. Kevin McClory’s estate use to own the names to Blofeld and his evil organization, and now after 30 years we will see Blofeld back in action! A long-time dispute had previously prevented the villain from appearing in the recent Bond films.
This is truly exciting news! Bond fans will distinctly remember Blofeld with his white cat previously played by Donald Pleasence, Telly Savalas and Charles Gray in the previous 007 movies. We haven’t seen the infamous baddie since 1981 when he graced the silver screen in “For Your Eyes Only”. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as 007, Ralph Fiennes is back as Bond’s new boss after Judi Dench’s M bowed out in “Skyfall”. Naomie Harris (Eve Moneypenny) and Ben Whishaw (Q) are also expected to return for the sequel. “Bond 24” is set to be released on November 6, 2015.
