There were some talks last year that Sylvester Stallone’s iconic boxing movie franchise will received the spin-off treatment. Michael B. Jordan who is eyed to play the lead role since last year is still in the mix to star in the upcoming project. It’s been an ongoing mystery as to when production is expected to start since the announcement about the project was made last October. During an interview with The Source, Michael B. Jordan shed some light on the future of the Rocky spin-off.
He said:
“Creed’s another one. … That’s definitely happening, for sure. Yeah I’m not going to let you guys down. I know that there’s a lot of Rocky fans out there and I’m one of them. So from one fan to another I’m gonna make sure we do a good job with this. Sly’s not gonna let anything happen to his baby.”
The spin-off sounds like something most fans would be interested in if reports about the plotline is anything to go by. Jordan is supposedly cast as the grandson of Carl Weathers’ character Apollo Creed, who started out as Rocky’s rival, but ended up becoming best friends. Sylvester Stallone is rumoured to return to the ring as Jordan’s coach while he guides him to become the new champ.
The Rocky spinoff will be directed by “Fruitvale Station” helmer Ryan Coogler. Stallone’s action packed “The Expendables 3” is expected to be released on 15 August 2014.
