Creators Ryan Murphy is teasing fans with a sneak peek of Sarah Paulson’s conjoined twins from the set of “American Horror Story: Freak Show“. Judging by the buzz created so far, we predict that “Freak Show” will be a solid contender for last season’s “American Horror Story: Coven”, which cracked the finale best for the FX series franchise. Building anticipation for the freak-centric season, Murphy shared the picture via Twitter on Thursday, July 17. The picture features conjoined twins Dot and Bettie, portrayed by Paulson. The series creator caption the picture, “Dot and Bette’s first day.”
Paulson will be “duplicated” using a mix of practical physical effects make-up and CGI. She first introduced us to Dot and Bettie last month via Twitter as well, when she posted the first picture of the twins. This is another huge character change for the 38-year-old actress who appeared in every season of “American Horror Story” so far. She previously took on roles as a medium, reporter and journalist.
The “carnival” themed fourth season will be set in the 1950’s with Jessica Lange taking the lead in her fourth and final season. Paulson is joined by Michael Chiklis who is set to play a strong man who was married to Bassett’s character, and Lange will be playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.
Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy all play performers whom Lange’s character has rescued; Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return. Freak Show’s 13 episodes will track this group as they do anything to keep their business around.
The freaks will be heading our way in October on FX.
