The Warcraft movie, based on the Blizzard Warcraft franchise has wrapped up production after only 129 days of shooting. The news come from Director Duncan Jones that had the following to say on twitter:
“Final day on Warcraft now officially… wrapped!! Off to bed for 3 hours before a meeting in the AM. Goodnight/good morning twitter!”
We sincerely hope this will be a great movie. It has all the elements to become one great fantasy movie. surprisingly we know very little about this film. All we have is a generic plot with the known cast members.
The Warcraft movie started shooting in January 2014 and that the movie already has a couple of big names attached to the big screen adaptation. We also have a release date set for December 18 2015, which was later pushed to 2016.
Duncan Jones revealed this brief story, which will be an origin story about the “first contact” between Orcs and humans, and will include characters Lothar and Durotan from Warcraft 2. According to Jones, the story of the film was originally focused on humans and the Alliance side, but soon became about “being a hero no matter what side you’re on.” Metzen explained that a huge priority was making sure that every player got to see their experience in the film, which meant representing the same balance maintained in the game.
We’re still waiting for the initial footage to be released which was shown at last years Comic Con. Maybe we’ll see something at this years BlizzCon?
The footage showcased an alien-looking landscape full of rocky outcroppings, where a sweaty unshaven figure in armor is drinking water from a leather pouch. There’s a cage with rocks in it, a squeaking noise, green lightning in the sky. The man tosses the water pouch on the ground, and draws his sword with a loud ringing sound. He takes a shield from an armored skeleton, and bangs his sword against it.
And then you see the massive arm of a… creature… heading towards him. We glimpse the green skin and some of the armor, and then finally we get an extreme closeup of the orc as it raises its axe and brings it down onto the man’s head.
The cast of the film includes Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky, Dominic Cooper, Daniel Wu, and Clancy Brown. The initial script was written by Charles Leavitt and then rewritten by Jones. Warcraft is set to be released in 3D on March 11th, 2016.
