Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson teased fans during a question & answer session via Twitter on New Year’s Eve, revealing a possible super hero role at DC. Johnson met with Warner Bros’ CEO to discuss the unnamed project which has been heavily debated on blogs suggesting that the buff actor will take on the role as John Stewart a.k.a The Green Lantern. This is not the first time we’ve seen reports that The Rock is linked to potential DC movies. He was previously linked to play DC’s interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter Lobo. The canned “Shazam!”movie also had a spot available for Johnson to portray Black Adam. Unfortunately the Green Lantern rumors were debunked by the actor himself.
He posted the following on Twitter:
“Green Lantern (John Stewart) and Black Adam are my fav superheroes, but GL’s already been made and stamped. #RockTalk.”
We are still not any closer to understanding which character he will be taking on, but The Rock dropped some clues during a group interview at CinemaCon:

The Rock confirmed talks with DC for “many years” to find a suitable character to portray, he said:
“There’s been mutual interest with myself and DC for many years to find the right character. I, like everyone here in the room, love superheroes. So there’s been mutual interest with us for years, and we’ve been having ongoing discussions, myself and DC, for years about the right character, what the right character would be. That’s another thing, too: it had to be right,”
When asked if it’s Black Adam he replied:
“Well, here’s the thing — so we’ve been having these ongoing discussions. I won’t tell you who it is, but I’ll tell you the three qualities we’re looking for, okay? This is going to be fun!”
When asked if the character wears a ring Johnson laughed and said he “can’t say that’.

He continued with the three qualities:
“The first quality we were looking for was that he had to be extremely complex and have a lot going on. What that does for me as an actor and the studio is it gives us space that we can explore; his complexities. The other quality was that he had to — the character we were looking for had to be well-known but never brought to life. Then what that does again as an actor, it gives me a little bit of space, and we talked about personality. It just gives me a chance to put an imprint into his personality, with the set of tools that I could bring to the table and put a very unique twist on his personality, but still pay homage to who he is. The third thing — and most important — is he had to be a badass motherfu#ker, okay, and on a Superman level of power, where could throw down. In those three qualities, I’m happy we’ve found that character. Right now, we’re out to a lot of writers.”
We will have to be patient with this one geeks, as mentioned by the big guy, the production is still looking for writers. Who do you think is the mystery character he will portray, does anyone else agree that Lobo will be an awesome fit?
The Rock can be seen next in the “Hercules: The Thracian Wars” due July 25 and he will reprise his role as Luke Hobbs in “Fast and Furious 7”.

It’s amazing how a discussion listing The Rock’s “preferences” regarding character traits he is looking to play suddenly become indisputable fact that he will indeed have ALL of the aforementioned traits. All he said is he’d like to play a character that has diversity in both scope and range. Possibly on a superman level of power and preferably is a bad@zz mofo.
Whether whatever character he plays is some parts of those traits or indeed all of them is completely speculative at this point.
The worst bit is that this article adds absolutely nothing new. It’s completely transparent. Just more regurgitation that has sadly become an internet staple of our time.
According to Johnson they managed to find the character that includes the three specific qualities they were looking for, or as you like to call it “preferences”. With regard to finding a DC character to portray he said “it had to be right”. If the man says “I’m happy we’ve found that character”, isn’t the confirmation from the starring actor good enough? We are really rooting for Lobo to be the character Johnson should portray. Transparency at this point is inevitable, the three qualities can be matched with so many DC characters and with no writer attached, all we can do is wait. Recent reports from multiple sources suggest that Green Lantern (John Stewart), Black Adam and Lobo is in the mix. Sure, it is mainly speculation but trying to suggest that the internet should report otherwise will be a difficult task to manage.

A proper Lobo-movie would have to be very, very brutal.
A PEGI-13 rated Lobo would be ridiculous.
The sadistic motorcycle-riding bounty hunter will probably not see the light of day. The description for the character is reason enough to consider a brutal flick with dark undertones. You are 100% correct, A PEGI-13 Lobo pic will be a waist of time.

Well they said it’s a super “hero” so any of Lobo, Black Adam, Doomsday, or Darkseid may not be right since they’re all bad guys. So what other good guy besides Captain Marvel has Superman level power? Now if it’s just a super “character” then yeah any of those could work.
