It has been close to six weeks since casting rumors started circling Hugh Jackman for the anticipated “Pan” project. “The Wolverine” star has officially been added to the cast of Warner Bros.’ “Pan (2015)”, as the villainous pirate Blackbeard.
President of creative development and worldwide production at Warner Bros. Greg Silverman said in a statement:
“Hugh Jackman always delivers indelible performances that resonate with audiences. We know he will create a Blackbeard who will be a powerful presence in this original Peter Pan adventure,”

“Hanna” director Joe Wright will serve behind the lens, with a script penned by Jason Fuchs. Greg Berlanti is producing under his Berlanti Productions banner while Sarah Schechter will oversee for the studio. “Inside Llewyn Davis” actor Garrett Hedlund was offered the role of Captain Hook in the title, THR reported earlier this week. The film is set to be released on July 17, 2015.
