In December last year, Paul Rudd joined the “Ant-Man” cast with no details indicating what will be expected from him to portray his character. Plot details are being kept under wraps for now and we hope that more details will be made available soon. “Ant-Man” helmer Edgar Wright dropped a hint for the anticipated Marvel movie, posting a picture titled “Homework” which he uploaded from an animated series “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes”. The pic shows hands reaching toward the “Ant-Man” helmet, suggesting that Scott Lang will be introduced.

The announcement that Michael Douglas will take on the role as Hank Pym shed a bit of light on Wright’s “Homework” pic. This means that we will have two superheroes in one Marvel movie with the same identity. Douglas will take on the role as the creator of the chemical allowing Ant-Man to shrink his size, and Paul Rudd will portray the “badass secret agent” Scott Lang, responsible for taking over Ant-Man’s identity.
To make things a little easier to digest, let’s have a closer look at the characters according to the comic books:
Hank Pym:
Dr. Henry “Hank” Pym is a brilliant scientist/biochemist with extensive knowledge in various scientific fields. He discovered a process in which he would manipulate a newly discovered group of subatomic particles through magnetic fields (which have become known as the “Pym Particles.”) Pym tested the serums on himself, and shrunk to the size of an ant. He later took on the identity as the superhero know as Ant-Man. Read more
Scott Lang:
Lang was an electronic engineer who was unable to support his family, and decided to turn to crime. He was caught and sentenced to 5 years in jail, but got out early for good behavior. Once freed, he began to work at Stark International’s design department. When his daughter was diagnosed with a fatal heart condition, Lang sought help from Dr. Erica Sondheim, who was kidnapped by Cross Technological Enterprises founder Darren Cross, for help with his own heart condition. In order to rescue her, and save his daughter, Lang broke in to Pym’s Home, and stole his technology. After a successful rescue posing as Ant-Man, Lang tried to turn himself in, but Pym allowed him to keep the suit, but for the purpose of good.
How Wright and Cornish will handle the story with two superheroes in the same title has not been revealed. “Ant-Man” is set to be released on July 31, 2015. “Ant-Man” is also one of the most anticipated movies to be released in 2015.
