“Ant-Man” helmer Edgar Wright dropped a hint for the anticipated Marvel movie. He posted a picture titled “Homework”, which he uploaded from an animated series “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes”. The pic is a screen capture taken from an episode called “To Steal an Ant-Man” featuring hands reaching toward the “Ant-Man” helmet.
The image comes from the episode which introduces Scott Lang, Luke Cage and Iron Fist! Will we see Scott Lang steal the original Ant-Man equipment from inventor Hank Pym and use it to commit crimes? Is this the back-story linking in with Marvel’s plans to introduce Luke Cage and Iron Fist as part of the studio’s Netflix deal?
There is a big possibility that Lang will be introduced as the protagonist while Hank Pym is also featured. We reported back in July that Wright has described Ant-Man as a film about a “badass secret agent” in the past. The badass he is referring to must be the reformed criminal who inherits the Ant-Man headgear and identity, Scott Lang! Anyway, nothing has been set in stone.
All the way back in 2006, Wright told Superherohype.com (via collider.com) about his idea for the film:
“Is to have a film that basically is about Henry Pym and Scott Lang, so you actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60′s, in sort of “Tales to Astonish” mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang’s story, and how he comes to acquire the suit, how he crosses paths with Henry Pym, and then, in an interesting sort of Machiavellian way, teams up with him.”
“Ant-Man” is set to be release on July 31, 2015. Paul Rudd will be suiting up as the Marvel hero.
