It has been over a month since GS reported that Javier Bardem was offered the role to play Captain Blackbeard in the upcoming Peter Pan origin film. Bardem is reportedly not attached to the project allowing the studios to court other Hollywood hot-shots. Recent reports suggest that Hugh Jackman is in negotiations to play the villainous pirate. Additional rumors pertaining to the storyline indicate that Captain Hook will be Peter Pan’s close ally while Blackbeard is set to be the main villain. Jackman is not confirmed at this stage, an open casting will be held to find a suitable actor.

The project known as “Pan”, takes place before the events of Barrie’s original stage play, which is probably the best-known version of the story. “Hanna” director Joe Wright will serve behind the lens, with a script penned by Jason Fuchs. The studio is allegedly looking for an actress in her mid-20s to play Tiger Lily. The film is set to be released on June 26, 2014.
