Avid fans of J.J. Connolly novels and British badass action protagonists with no names are in for a treat. Deadline.com reports that Jason Statham and his manager / producing partner Steve Chasman have picked up the rights to J.J. Connolly‘s book “Viva La Madness”, the follow-up to his “Layer Cake”.
Director Matthew Vaughn‘s “Layer Cake” assisted Daniel Craig to find his feet in preparation for the more polished 007’s James Bond. Statham is a perfect replacement while Craig is focusing on “Bond 24”. The “Snatch” star has more than once proven his acting chops in stylish British crime thrillers “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,” “The Bank Job,” “The Transporter,” and “Parker”.
This time round the man with no name is recovering from his wounds and is looking for a quiet place on a beach to retire. Instead of white beaches and mojitos, he finds himself in the middle of Venezuelan drug cartels, fraud, money laundering and dangerous lowlifes.
Statham will next appear in “Homefront” set to be released on November 27.
