Microsoft revealed that the release date for their next-gen console, the XBox One will be 22 November. Bear in mind though that this will be a staggered release. The countries top of the list are America, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom. Sony will be launching their PlayStation 4 one week earlier, on the 15th. The console wars are truly heating up, it will be a very interesting 2 weeks.
In addition to the set release date, Microsoft’s corporate VP for their Interactive Entertainment Business, Yusuf Mehdi, has revealed that the console’s CPU has seen a slight bump in performance from a 1.6 GHz clock speed to a 1.75 GHz clock speed.
“We’re on track for launch in November. We’ll announce a launch date shortly,” Mehdi told attendees of the Citi Global Technology Conference. “We recently just went into full production, so we’re now producing en masse Xbox One consoles. We’ve had real good progress on the system. In fact, we just updated the CPU performance to 1.75 GHz on top of the graphics performance improvement, so the system is really going to shine; the games look pretty incredible.”
