The sequel we have all been waiting for will get made after waiting almost 30 years after Top Gun was released back in 1986. GeekShizzle nearly started a small riot after the announcement was made in an interview, that Tom Cruise will be back to reprise his role as United States Naval Aviator Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. There has been some doubts however it is now confirmed.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer told IndieWire:
“We’re at a point right now where everybody wants to make it. For a while it was Tom was excited about it but the studio didn’t want to commit or the studio was excited and Tom didn’t want to do it. And that’s been going on for 30 years.”— “And now we’re at a point where the studio is excited and Tom is excited. A lot of that has to do with Tony (Scott’s) vision. He had a really exciting vision and he got everybody excited about it. That enthusiasm (has) carried forward.”
Tom Cruise added during an MTV interview:
“we all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot ‘Top Gun.’”
There is currently no official word on the direction the Top Gun sequel will take, however expectations are set for a 2016 release date.
