Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark
Many sleepless nights may have been caused as the geek community waited anxiously to see if Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark aka Iron Man. The idea of someone else filling the position as Iron Man just doesn’t sit well, Robert Downey Jr. has forever cemented the character in his portrayal of the man in the iron suit. Unfortunately the day will come when he will have to pass on the armored suit, however we will have the privilege of enjoying his company for another two sequels. Marvel Studios confirmed that Downey will return as Iron Man for The Avengers 2 and 3. He is voted as Vulture Magazine’s Most Valuable Star of 2013, this will definitely boost his career and improve changes of seeing Downey in future Iron Man projects…..or at least hope so.
Here is what Marvel had to say:
“Under the two-picture agreement, Downey will star as Tony Stark/Iron Man in “Marvel’s The Avengers 2” and “Marvel’s The Avengers 3.”

“Avengers” Director Joss Whedon insisted that the “The Avengers 2” will not see the light of day if Robert Downey Jr. is not on-board. The rest of “The Avengers” cast is expected to reprise their roles, including Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye).
The Avengers 2, will begin production in March 2014, with an expected release date set for May 1, 2015.
