People that share an appreciation for “stupid” comedy will be very excited to know that an old school classic has been selected for a sequel. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels will most likely reprise their roles as Lloyd and Harry in a sequel to the 1994 smash hit buddy comedy, “Dumb and Dumber”. It has been 20 years since we have seen the on-screen antics of the dumb duo, Geekshizzle is defiantly rooting for the sequel to make its way to the silver screen.

Two peas in a pod

The news of the sequel is well received, especially after the disastrous 2003 prequel “Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd”, starring Derek Richardson (as Harry Dunne) and Eric Christian Olsen (as Lloyd Christmas). The upcoming sequel will stand a chance to restore the cult status “Dumb and Dumber” received with Carry and Daniels on-board. Talks regarding a sequel started as early as October 26, 2011. The Farrelly brothers creative team will be at the helm directing, and they were responsible for the script.

The famous suits

“It’s going well. We have a great script and now we are just trying to get it made. I love the script. It’s exactly like the first one. We pick up 20 years later. We explain what they’ve done for the last 17 or 18 years. We take off from that and it’s just a lot of laughs. It’s at Warner Bros., and right now it’s being financed outside the studio, but it will be released by Warner Bros. And that’s all being worked out right now. If you liked Dumb and Dumber, you’ll like this because it’s the same and more. It’s really fun. It’s being made through Warner Bros. but now we have several financiers that are negotiating with the studio and trying to make the best deal. Whichever one does will make the movie. It’s going to be made through Warner Bros. and released by Warner Bros. but financed by an outside financer.” – Peter Farrelly

The ridiculous haircuts

The Los Angeles film production team, Red Granite, has shown interest in the “Dumb and Dumber To” project. An opportunity was presented for Red Granite to be first in line, when Warner Bros decided to walk out on the sequel. The Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the news of Warner Bros’ exit, stated that New Line will still get a licensing fee and a share of the profits for “Dumb and Dumber To”.

The upcoming comedy sequel will follow Loyd and Harry on a road trip to find Harry’s illegitimate daughter for a kidney transplant. The stupidity will probably make it’s way to cinemas in 2014.
