Unfortunately all good things come to an end, but sometimes good things end prematurely. There are so many TV shows out there that receive the chop way too soon and most series geeks are left with much to be desired. It is such a let-down to really get into something you enjoy, only to find that the hosting Network decided to cancel the show for whatever reasons. Needless to say we can list more than the below mentioned shows that should have received an extra couple of seasons, but these ones are at the top of our list from recent memory.

1. Arrested Development

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, “Arrested Development” is a must see and probably one of the funniest shows ever made. You’ve got Jessica Walter, Jeffrey Tambor, Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Tony Hale and many more supporting actors to load up a show with catch phrases and quotable lines to literally provide you with a laugh a minute. The crazy family who love to hate each other eventually moved to Netflix after spending three seasons at Fox. Even though Netflix continued to support the show with a fourth season, AD failed to produce the same punch after Six years since it was cancelled.

His son George Oscar Bluth is a magician who started a group to get magicians to be taken seriously – and gets kicked out when his own tricks are revealed. Lindsay is married to a man named Tobias Funke, once a psychiatrist, who decides to become an actor. 2. Hannibal

I was rather sceptical when NBC announced that one of the best known cult classic movies of all time will be receiving the small screen treatment. “Hannibal” is a very difficult story to adapt to series because of the multi layered storylines and legacy left behind by leading man of the top ranking movies, Anthony Hopkins.  Based upon the bestselling novels by Thomas Harris; Red Dragon and Hannibal are one of the most thrilling reads in its genre. Bryan Fuller’s psychological thriller/horror television series adaptation managed to recapture the imagination of series geeks with a well-produced masterpiece. The cinematography style of the show, as pooled with a strong acting cast which include the likes of Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, Laurence Fishburne and Gillian Anderson, made for one of the best TV shows you will ever see. In all honesty the series could have gone for maybe one more season, but one more season would have smoothed out some of the multi layered character development story arches.

Plot Summary

“Jack Crawford, head of the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI, seeks out special investigator Will Graham to help solve various murder cases across the Maryland area. Graham has a special ability to assume the point of view of a killer, as well as empathize with them. This ability, while it saves lives, has a haunting effect on Graham. In some cases, Graham’s fearful mind can lead to distortion of reality. Jack assigns a psychiatrist to Will Graham to help him cope with the work he does.

The psychiatrist is Dr. Hannibal Lecter, known to his colleagues as a brilliant mind and praised doctor, but known to no one as The Chesapeake Ripper, the most wanted serial killer in recent years. As Jack, Will, and Hannibal develop a friendship, Hannibal uses his position to not only play dangerous games with the FBI, but break down Will’s mental state. The question is… Why? The series begins as a prequel to Red Dragon, along with a retelling of many elements of the Hannibal Lecter story.” Via IMDB

3. The League

Fantasy football received an exciting comedic injection with FX’s “The League”. It seems unlikely that a bunch of friends playing online fantasy football could be remotely funny, until you experience the craziness and relentless backstabbing. Show creators Jeff Schaffer and Jackie Schaffer bring to the table an extremely quick-witted and hilarious show which blends a bit of pop culture and all round silliness. The inside jokes and culty football humor shared among the six friends who take part in the fantasy football league is so much fun while you track their progress in their pursuit to do anything to win! The show never seemed to run out of steam because there was no real point besides winning the league each season. We would have loved to see them duke it out for a couple more seasons.

Plot Summary

“Avid fantasy football fans try to balance their time between the league and their real lives. It becomes a challenge, though, when the good-natured competition gives way to a win-at-all-costs mentality, which begins to spill over into their relationships and even the workplace. It’s a cutthroat competition to win the league — and the bragging rights that come with the feat. The sitcom features a plethora of cameos by real-life NFL players, who play themselves on the series.” Via FX

4. Blue Mountain State

BMS is one of the best college comedy TV shows in years, depending on your palate of college humor. Critics didn’t seem to favour the crudeness of the show that usually involved girls, booze and drugs, but the show gained favor with a small group of followers which eventually led to a cult following nationwide when it was released on Netflix. Inspired by Animal House, this Spike TV comedy is the brainchild of Chris Romano and Eric Falconer, the forces behind The Sarah Silverman Program.

5. The Sarah Conner Chronicles

The first thing that comes to mind when geeks talk about this series is Summer Glau. She portrays Cameron Phillips, a class T-OK715 robot from the apocalyptic future of 2027. The futuristic robot that looks like any teenage boy’s dream girl was reprogrammed by future Tech-Com leader John Connor to protect his past self. A perfect choice in every geek’s books if you had to send back a sexy robot to protect you while in high school, unlike Arnie’s T800 robot in the original movies. Sexy artificial intelligent hotness aside, fans of Terminator would have appreciated at least one more season to play out what happened in the final episode of the second season.

With the aid of Cameron Phillips, a beautiful girl who has a mysterious past also linked to the future; Derek Reese, a Tech-Com soldier from the future whose past is linked with the Connors; Riley, a beautiful schoolfriend of John; and FBI Agent James Ellison, who was assigned to capture the Connors but joins them after his own encounter with one of the machines. They begin a quest to stop the United States military and a shadowy conspiracy from the future from creating the program that will stop at nothing to bring humanity to an end.” Source Ron

6. Firefly

Considering that critically acclaimed director/producer Joss Whedon’s Firefly was supposed to be the next huge sci-fi series to change television, no one expected the show to be cancelled so quickly. Yes the viewing numbers weren’t great, but in an information overloaded society an extra season would have given people a chance to experience the awesomeness. New Scientist magazine’s website held an internet poll back in 2005 to find “The World’s Best Space Sci-Fi Ever”. Needless to say “Firefly” came in first place, with its cinematic follow-up “Serenity” in second. Please Netflix…..anyone….please bring back “Firefly”!

7. IT Crowd

Our favorite British sitcom featuring a group of office IT geeks is still one of the most talked about geek/comedy TV series to date. Starring Chris O’Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson, Noel Fielding and Matt Berry, the show went viral after one short season. The show adds a large number of references to geek culture and was usually spot on with tech jargon. The everyday life of an IT desktop support agent was captured effortlessly while the show played through random misadventures in their basement style office space. The series 4 finale on 30 July 2010 saw the show reach its current ratings peak of 2.17 million and was highly successful in its time slot. All the more reason to bring our IT geeks back!!

The show revolves around Moss and Roy’s antics both at work and out socially, which always ends badly.” Written by ME

8. Dracula

Jonathan Rhys Meyers finally got a shot at playing a strong male character again after his epic performance portraying King Henry VIII in “The Tudors”. Despite the fact that “Dracula” was nominated for Favorite New TV Drama and that Meyers was nominated as a Favorite Actor in a New TV Series, the show still received the chop after only one season. Stunning cinematography which brought to life one of the best horror stories of all time featuring on of my favorite actors was simply not enough to keep the show on the air.

In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier.
