garbage new album strange little birds empty single

“Good things come to those that wait. Or so they say.” Garbage fans have been waiting for an album like this for a while!

First a quick recap for those that can’t remember who these guys are: Garbage is an American-Scottish alternative rock band formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1993 Garbage’s debut album, Garbage, was critically acclaimed, sold over 4 million copies, and was certified double platinum in the UK, US, and Australia while accompanied by a string of increasingly successful singles in 1995–1996, including “Stupid Girl” and “Only Happy When It Rains”. Follow-up Version 2.0, released in 1998 after a year of production, had an equal commercial success, topping the UK Albums Chart and getting nominations for two Grammy Awards. Garbage followed this up by performing and co-producing the theme song to the nineteenth James Bond movie The World Is Not Enough

When we say they’re back, it’s not like they were gone really. The band is known for going on short/medium/long hiatusses which leaves fans dry for an extended period of time. This time around the same group of guys,  Shirley Manson (vocals), Steve Marker (guitars, keyboards), Duke Erikson (guitars, keyboards), and Butch Vig (drums, loops) have retained an eccentric blend of electronica, trip hop, punk, pop, and alternative rock. Which leaves us very excited for the latest album ‘Strange little birds’:

Garbage Releases New Single ‘Empty’ From Upcoming ‘Strange Little Birds’ Album

Shirley Manson, Scottish rock goddess supreme, noted the link between the new album and the original 1995 album. “To me, this record, funnily enough, has the most to do with the first record than any of the previous records. It’s getting back to that beginner’s headspace.” Strange Little Birds isn’t an exact replica of Garbage (1995), nor was it meant to be. But it most certainly shares the same foundation, as the band burrows down to its roots.

Strange Little Birds, is set for release on June 10 via their own imprint, STUNVOLUME. So far, the band has shared lead single“Empty” (as well as its music video) and “Even Though Our Love Is Doomed.” Now, in advance of the record’s release, Garbage is streaming Strange Little Birdsin full via Apple Music.
