New Point Break Movie Remake Feature Still Does Not Impress

As mentioned previously we’re not too keen on the new Point Break remake. After the first trailer was released a few months ago we can clearly expect to watch an adrenaline filled movie about extreme sports and a possible plot line that vaguely reflects the original movie. Unfortunately the remake is still heading our way this Christmas. We’re a huge fan of Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 original. This remake, which is really leaning hard into the extreme sports angle will luckily still have surfing in the  film, and as this new feature shows, things got extremely dangerous while the production was filming among the world’s fiercest waves.

All of those stunts are admittedly impressive, but none of it matters if we don’t care about the characters, and that’s the element that remains to be seen with this remake.

Point Break stars Édgar Ramírez as Bodhi, Luke Bracey as Johnny Utah, and Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer, and Delroy Lindo. Ericson Core directs a script written by Kurt Wimmer, and the film arrives in theaters on December 25th.

A young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill-seeking elite athletes – led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). The athletes are suspected of carrying out a spate of crimes in extremely unusual ways. Deep undercover, and with his life in imminent danger, Utah strives to prove they are the architects of this string of inconceivable crimes.
