Sony has revealed its latest limited edition PlayStation 4 – a Darth Vader-inspired Star Wars console. The console will be available from 17 November as part of two Star Wars bundles – augmenting the release of Star Wars: Battlefront. Its official title is the “Limited Edition Star Wars Battlefront PS4″, and it comes with a Star Wars DualShock 4 controller and the standard 500GB hard drive.

We’re not too excited about this console, as Sony has done way better with its special editions in the past. Check-out the Star Wars themed Xbox below, it was beautiful. R2-D2 C3PO themed.

This one however has a dual-shock controller that hardly reflect anything Star Wars. I understand that it’s trying to emulate the black, white, blue and red buttons of Darth Vader’s famous chestplate, but if you showed that controller to anyone divorced of the Vader system, most would think it was just an ugly repaint. It’s just not as cool in practice as someone imagined it would be in theory.

At this point, anyone can slap a skin on a PS4, and that’s exactly what it looks like Sony has done here. They’ve simply put a Darth Vader sticker on the existing console, which has a little (also ugly) STAR WARS logo pattern repeating like wallpaper across the system and the touchpad of the controller.

But, saying this we’re sure lots of fan-boys will be buying this, as it is coming bundled with the game that is set to be the game of the year. Star Wars: Battlefront.
