Warner Bros. had their hands full over the last couple of days trying to stop the internet from spreading leaked clips featuring the trailer for their latest DC comic book movie. Yes geeks, we are talking about the trailer for one of the most talked about DC movies in years, “Suicide Squad”!

The footage leaked soon after the presentation took place at Comic-Con in Hall H on Saturday. WB failed to contain the clips that were launched all over the internet, and instead, they decided to release a full HD version of the clip that was shown on Saturday.

First Official ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer Released After Leak

Here is the official statement from Sue Kroll, President Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures:

“Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the Suicide Squad footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation.”

Getting back to the trailer:

As promised, director David Ayer is taking a gritty approach if the dark undertones and backdrop of the trailer is anything to go by. It seems that Ayer managed to fully implement his style and present “Suicide Squad” in a way that feels unique and completely separate from what frequent DC film helmer Zack Snyder is doing. Ayer is well-known for this edgy films and at this point we are more than just a little excited! Jared Leto’s Joker looks the part, even though fans were unhappy about the edgy tattooed look.

Furthermore, the trailer also introduces the main anti-heroes. Leto’s Joker is featured along with Will Smith’s Deadshot, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney’s Boomerang, Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara’s Katana, and Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg. The DC movie will hit U.S. theaters on August 5, 2016.
