Bruce Campbell is back in ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead‘, the follow-up to Raimi’s wildly popular “Evil Dead” horror movies. We mentioned a while ago that this is going to be a must see production and our calendars will be marked as soon as the release dates are finalized! “Ash vs. Evil Dead” will be a 10-episode half-hour series which premieres in 2015. The anticipated show is set 30 years after the events of the original movie. Starz was kind enough to share some images with Entertainment Weekly of their upcoming series based on the cult classic horror movie franchise. Ash is seen covered in blood while sporting his signature chainsaw on the picture shared via EW. He is joined by Value Stop employees Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana Delorenzo), in the photo.

In the exclusive interview with Campbell, he revealed what happened to Ash during his 22-year-hiatus, he said:

“Not much!” “He was perfectly happy doing basically nothing: telling lies about how he lost his hand in bars late at night. That was basically his MO. So, he’s not really the guy who should be dealing with this right now. But…he is. He’s our guy!”

According to Raimi who directed the first episode of the TV series, Ash accidentally unleashing the evil dead back upon the world again. Some additional titbits about the future battles with the supernatural evil was also revealed.

The helmer said:

“He’s the only one stupid enough to really tamper with those spirits,” “And he does. But he’s also still a really good monster fighter. So, he’s also going to be kicking some deadite buttocks, if you’ll pardon the French.” “It’s ‘The Searchers’ with carnage and mayhem. I’m relegated a little bit into the John Wayne mode these days with my team-the young, virile, evil fighters who will pair up with Ash and take on this nemesis: this never ending, ever evolving nemesis.”

The 10 half-hour episodes are planned to be released this fall. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Ivan Raimi and Craig DiGregorio, as well as the cast Campbell and Lucy Lawless are scheduled to show up at Comic-Con this coming weekend on July 10 at 6:00-7:00 P.M. in Room 6A of the San Diego Convention Center.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ash is now “a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the past three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons – personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its evil grip.”
