Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson (a.k.a. “Number Seven” to fans of the metal band) and his brother were admitted to separate hospitals on Wednesday, the Clive Police Department confirmed, after Thomson sustained a knife wound on the back of his head. Both Mick and his younger brother Andrew suffered serious yet non-life-threatening injuries in the early morning scuffle.

As we suspected alcohol was involved in the altercation, police said. Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor tweeted updates (below). Slipknot is in the middle of a world tour that resumes in the United States in July to promote the group’s fifth album, .5: The Gray Chapter. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last fall.
