The last time we checked in with news about the “Ghostbusters” reboot, Sony Pictures was still in the process to get Bill Murray back for one more epic ghost busting adventure. Some will also remember the rumors suggesting that an all-female cast was considered for the reboot. New details released about the progress of the long gestating project reveal that Melissa McCarthy has boarded the movie. Kristen Wiig as well as “Saturday Night Live” stars Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon are apparently in negotiations for the coveted roles.

Writer and director Paul Feig may have shared the final casting selections by tweeting photos of the four actresses mentioned in an article posted by The Hollywoodreporter.

Top Left Clockwise: Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon

Feig tweeted the release date in another post:

“In other news, #Ghostbusters will be hitting theaters July 22, 2016. Save the date!”

In other related news, Peter Dinklage is wanted for a role in the movie as a “creepy mechanical genius”. No other details have been made available for the untitled Ghostbusters reboot. Hollywood should ideally steer away from our favorite cult classic movies as considerations for reboot-remake projects, but nothing will stop them from doing so.
