Deadline says that Wahlberg is teaming up with Lone Survivor creative lead Peter Berg to kick-off a revamped version of the original TV series, with the exception that billions are expected to be spent on the special agent turned superhuman. Now titled “The Six Billion Dollar Man”, The Weinstein Co.’s Dimension Films label will carry forward the project with various writers circling the project. The original “Six Billion Dollar Man” TV series was a huge hit back in the 1970s, which starred Lee Majors as the titular character. A spin-off titled “The Bionic Woman” starring Lindsay Wagner was equally successful, but no big screen adaptation has been mentioned for the female version of the iconic franchise.

Weinstein is producing along with Berg and his producing partner Sarah Aubrey, Wahlberg’s production company Closest to the Hole Prods. and Wahlberg’s producing partner Stephen Levinson. Production is officially set to begin next year for a 2016 release date.
