It is no secret that here at GeekShizzle we are regarded as the biggest Killswitch Engage fans on the planet. The American metalcore band formed from two metalcore bands Overcast and Aftershock is going from strength to strength, and there are no signs of slowing down. Selling over four million records in the US, it is almost impossible to think that one of our favorite bands are still kicking ass and taking names after 15 years. The most significant changes that influenced the group’s musical direction during their career, was the seamless switch of lead vocalists. Jesse Leach (1999–2002, 2012–present), former vocalist of the band Nothing Stays Gold and Howard Jones (2002–2012) of Blood Has Been Shed, have been inspiring vocal canons for Killswitch Engage. Boiling down to preference if you’re a hardcore fan, each vocalist has a special quality that blends extremely well with the overall mix of the Killswitch Engage’s metalcore sound.

Speaking to Pop-Break.com, guitarist Joel Stroetzel was kind enough to share his thoughts on a couple of questions. When asked how he experienced the reintroduction of Jesse after Howard left, he said:

“Going way back, one of the things we liked most about Howard was that he didn’t try to be Jesse out of all the people we tried out. The same thing happened again when Jesse came back after Howard left. We said, “How do you sound singing Howard’s songs?” He did it and it sounds like him. We liked that he didn’t try to be somebody he’s not. Both guys are unique. Yeah, it was great having him come back. It’s just like old friends reuniting after all these years. We kept in touch over the years and we did the TIMES OF GRACE project with Adam [Dutkiewicz, guitar] and Jesse. Everything’s been great and the spirits are high!”

We have the privilege of selecting our top Killswitch Engage songs from six studio albums, however only some of the songs were accompanied with a music video. Hope all Killswitch Engage fans enjoy this post!
