AMC released the first official photo from “Better Call Saul“. The “Breaking Bad” spin-off series unveiled the pic giving us a first look at Saul Goodman portrayed by Bob Odenkirk. The “Breaking Bad” actor reprises his role as Goodman in a brand new series set as a prequel that will focus on the evolution of Goodman’s character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer. Odenkirk’s Goodman can be seen in the first picture released sporting a suit. Odenkirk is joined in the picture by showrunner Peter Gould who created the character of Saul, and Vince Gilligan, who directed the first episode. The picture is taken with the three gentlemen standing in front of a classic black 1969 Chevrolet Camaro parked somewhere in the Albuquerque, New Mexico desert…where else right!

AMC president Charlie Collier said in a statement:

“Production on ‘Better Call Saul’ is underway and we could not be more proud of nor more excited about the work to date. We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series and today we happily confirm that our initial ‘Saul’ order is for two seasons and a total of 23 episodes,”

“When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of ‘Breaking Bad,’ there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves. We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on ‘Saul’ and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures.”

Fans of Saul Goodman will be very pleased to hear that the show has already received the green light for a 13-episode second season! With the production already underway for the first season, the cable network made the announced on Thursday, June 19. Reports earlier this year also speculated the return of Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston. Gould will executive produce the new show, while Gilligan plans to direct the pilot. The character portrayed by Jonathan Banks will join Bob Odenkirk who will reprise his role as Saul Goodman. Dean Norris, who played Walt’s DEA Agent brother-in-law Hank, said it’s unlikely for him to join the cast of the “Breaking Bad” spin-off due to his commitments on CBS’ “Under the Dome”.
