We finally get to see some footage for the hotly anticipated TV series created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. FX released some footage for “The Strain” that features a viral outbreak and hundreds of dead bodies. The clip opens with people in biohazard suits investigating a plane which landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Filled with sick passengers, some seem to have survived the “viral outbreak” but what caused it?

David Bradley’s Professor Abraham Setrakian says:

“I’ve seen this disease before. All the passengers must be destroyed,”

The creepy 30-second trailer also features an organ that looks like a human heart stuck in a jar while it moves around. What is reanimating the dead tissue? We also get to see a glass box filled with parasites, are they responsible for the outbreak? The clip ends with a mysterious creature hiding in a pile of rags or a coat, and then attacks a man.

Check out the synopsis:

“The Strain is billed as a “high-concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.”

The high-concept thriller is set to debut Sunday, July 13 at 10 P.M. ET.
