The director’s seat for the ‘Masters of the Universe’ reboot has finally been filled according to a recent report by Schmoesknow.com. “Kick-Ass 2” director and “Non-Stop” producer Jeff Wadlow is apparently the man for the job!

The site says:

“..the Phantom [Schmoeville resource] strikes again! Hot off the desk from said Phantom comes exclusive news that KICK-ASS 2 writer/director Jeff Wadlow’s next directing project will be MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE for Sony Pictures.”

Previous reports indicate that four top contenders are in the mix to take a seat behind the lens to helm the project.

The frontrunners are:

  • Mike Cahill – Directed: “Another Earth”, “Kick-Ass 2”.
  • Chris McKay – One of the editors of “The Lego Movie”
  • Harald Zwart – Directed : “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones”, “The Karate Kid”
  • Jeff Wadlow – Directed: “Kick-Ass 2” ( future project – “X-Force”)

“G.I. Joe: Retaliation” helmer John M. Chu was initially onboard to direct the new take on the 1980s cartoon series, however he is no longer involved in the project. The story revolves around He-Man and his friends who are responsible for defending the realm of Eternia and the secrets of Castle Grayskull from the evil forces of Skeletor.
