Los Angeles entertainment anchor, Sam Rubin, confused Samuel L. Jackson with Laurence Fishburne on KTLA live TV Monday morning, making for an incredibly awkward interview. Jackson appeared on KTLA to promote his upcoming film “Robocop”, but the live interview got really interesting after Rubin asked the actor about “his” Super Bowl commercial.

Rubin asked the following question:

“Did you get a lot of reaction from that Super Bowl commercial?” (referring to the KIA ad featuring “Matrix” star Fishburne)

Jackson asked back with a very confused look on his face:

“What Super Bowl commercial?”

The news anchor looked equally confused, at this point Jackson put two-and-two together and then replied:

“See, you’re as crazy as the people on Twitter. I’m not Laurence Fishburne!”

Rubin tried to apologize, but Jackson didn’t let it go:

“We don’t all look alike. We may be all black and famous, but we all don’t look alike. You’re busted,”

“You’re the entertainment reporter for this station? And you don’t know the difference between me and Laurence Fishburne? There must be a very short line for your job.”

Jackson now really annoyed, wouldn’t let Rubin continue with his questions about “RoboCop”. The awkwardness continues –

Rubin said:

“My mistake, I apologize. Let’s talk about ‘Robocop’,”

Jackson snaps back with a snarky comment:

“Oh hell no! Really? I’m the other guy.”

The poor guy made a terrible mistake and ended up apologising to save any dignity he had left.

The entertainment anchor said:

“I pride myself on the fact – that unlike a lot of people who do this kind of work – more often than not, I really do know what I’m talking about. I’m really embarrassed about (what happened), and I very much apologize to Samuel L. Jackson and anyone else who was offended for what was a very amateur mistake.”

All is forgiven Sam, people make mistakes and unfortunately some mistakes are televised. Not sure if Jackson’s ego can take another hit?
