Screenwriter/ Director Guy Ritchie will be very busy over the next couple of years if he decides to move forward with a tentpole film franchise based on King Arthur’s legendary story. Ritchie’s “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” is on the way (with Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer starring) which means he is still burning the midnight oil to wrap-up his latest development for Warner Bros. King Arthur related developments seem to be jinxed if one needs to take into account the numerous projects that failed to launch over the past 5 years.

In 2010 we heard many good things about a possible “Excalibur” remake under Ritchie’s guidance. Bryan Singer also took a jab at reintroducing the legendary British leader.  The last attempt in recent memory was an undertaking by David Dobkin with “Arthur & Lancelot,” but fell apart due to budget concearns. Ritchie is considering an idea brought to his attention by writer Joby Harold that would spawn a series of King Arthur films across no less than six fantasy editions.

Harold has already penned the first one, he will also be involved in the production along with Ritchie, Akiva Goldsman, Lionel Wigram, and Tory Tunnell. We are die-hard Ritchie fans for many years now. Our Blue-ray collection has Snatch, Sherlock Holmes and RocknRolla firmly secured in the top 10 slots. The Arthurian legends told with Ritchie attached at the helm will be something to look forward to.
