Jupiter Ascending sees her taking on the Sci-Fi genre, one where we have not seen her in before. This should be on your geek radar my friends! Futuristic sci-fi special effects, huge spaceships, laser guns, epic battles and of course Mila Kunis. Written and directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski, the sci-fi film Jupiter Ascending is set in a future where humans are at no longer at the top of the food chain. A woman has been targeted for assassination by the queen of the universe.

Synopsis:

“Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.”

This will be a very interesting watch, coming from the sci-fi masterminds Lana and Andy Wachowski who gave us “The Matrix”. Lana said in an interview with movies.msn.com: “It’s a science-fiction space opera. It has a lot of things from a lot of genres that we love. It’s got a lot of original action, it’s got a lot of romance.” Tatum and Kunis is supported by Douglas Booth, Eddie Redmayne, Sean Bean and James D’Arcy among other stars.

5. Blood Ties

  • Starring: Mila Kunis, James Caan, Zoe Saldana and Marion Cotillard
  • Release Date: Unknown
  • Director: Guillaume Canet

Mila picked up a few pounds for her role in this thriller set in the 70’s. It is beyond confusing to us why on earth anyone would want Mila to gain weight, unless the character she portrays requires a “physical adjustment”. But nonetheless she was seen on the set of Blood Ties with added ‘cushioning’. The thriller Blood Ties stars Clive Owen and Billy Crudup as brothers on opposite sides of the law who face off over organized crime during 1970s Brooklyn.  The film was co-adapted with James Gray from the French novel ‘Les liens du sang’.
