Luke Evans comments on The Crow

Luke Evans commented on his role as Eric Draven in the reboot of the cult movie The Crow. After seeing a range of creative teams come and go, including the likes of Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg, and James McAvoy for the lead role and film-makers Stephen Norrington, Nick Cave, and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo eager to steer the project in the directors chair. Now, Ed Pressman has F. Javier Gutierrez lined up the director with a script from Cliff Dorfman “Warrior”.

We’re still not too optimistic about this reboot. The original 1994 film was remarkable, featuring Brandon Lee in his final film appearance. Some still argue that “The Crow” only reached cult status due to the controversial circumstances leading to Lee’s death. He tragically died on set due to a gunshot wound after an accidental shooting. Remaking “The Crow” will be frowned upon by most fans of the cult classic hit.

In an interview with Metro UK Evans said:

“It is incredibly sad that Brandon died making the movie. He was a very talented actor. It is a very beautiful story, The Crow. It is a very tragic story with huge emotional themes. We plan to tell the story differently and with a lot of integrity to the original comic book.”

So at least they plan to stay true to the Comic Book, but in a different way? We’re not sure what to make of this, and until we see some footage we’re still labelling this as a reboot they should have stayed away from.
