New York Magazine’s Vulture has released their list of top 100 Most Valuable Stars of 2013. The highest paid actor in the world, Robert Downey Jr, has been named for the second consecutive year as Hollywood’s most valuable movie star. The list is compiled based on combined domestic and overseas box office totals, studio value, likeability, Oscars, critics’ scores, Twitter mentions and tabloid value. Check out the link to get more insight of the calculations: Methodology.

Vulture.com had the following to say about Downey Jr:

“…He’s the star of two of the top five highest-grossing movies of all time — The Avengers, which brought in $1.5 billion worldwide, and Iron Man 3, which took in $1.2 billion — and unlike other comic-book heroes who could be recast at the drop of a hat (and often are), Downey Jr. is so synonymous with Tony Stark that when he decided not to make any more Iron Man movies for the time being, Marvel basically put the megafranchise on pause in the hopes that he’ll change his mind…”

The two Highest climbers on the list this year is Tom Hanks (9) and Jennifer Lawrence (3). Hanks is back in action with his latest film “Captain Phillips”, which opened to $26 million this year. The critically acclaimed film achieved the highest opening for one of his movies in the last four years. Critics suggest that Hanks should make his way to a tailor for a perfect fit suit and prepare a speech; Oscar buzz is circling his efforts.

Jennifer Lawrence is unstoppable with two major franchises (“The Hunger Games” and “X-Men”) keeping her busy for at least another three years give or take. The talented Oscar award winning actress can be seen next in David O. Russell’s “American Hustle”. O. Russell and Lawrence teamed up before for her Oscar winning performance in “Silver Linings Playbook”.

Johnny Depp (10), Denzel Washington (8) and Will Smith (6) moved down a couple of spots this year. Other Hollywood A-listers such as Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise and George Clooney also appear in the top 20 at No. 12, 14, and 18, respectively.
