Author Tom Clancy sadly passed away recently, and even though he will mostly be remembered as the author of the Jack Ryan novels, there’s been a lot of games that bear his name as well. His movies adapted from his novels did give him the recognition he deserves, but it is for the games adapted from the novels that we remember him most.

Ghost Recon is an American video game series of military tactical shooters, created by Red Storm Entertainment, a game development studio founded in part by American author Tom Clancy. There’s been 12 Ghost Recon Games in total, with a few still planned for the near future.

The first Ghost Recon game was released in 2001, called Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon. This was one of the first and best tactical First Person Shooter games we played. It is credited  with defining and refining the tactical shooter genre.

Apart from the free to play Ghost Recon: Online the latest Tom Clancy Ghost Recon game released was called Future Soldier released on May 22 2012. This time with advanced prototype weapons and both a single-player campaign and multi-player modes.

2. Rainbow Six

Rainbox Six is another tactical shooter game that we’ve poured countless hours of gaming into. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six is a media franchise created by American author Tom Clancy about a fictional international counter-terrorist unit called “Rainbow.” The franchise began with Clancy’s novel Rainbow Six, which was adapted into a successful series of tactical first-person shooter video games.

There’s multiple expansions and versions of the popular Rainbox Six game spanning across various platforms and next generation consoles. The first Rainbox Six game was released in 1998, and the latest Raibox Six game was released in 2008, called Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, officially the seventh of the Rainbow Six series. 2011 saw the release of the mobile platform (iOS / Android) version called Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard.

3. Splinter Cell

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is a series of award-winning action-adventure stealth video games the first of which was released in 2002, and their tie-in novels. Together with Assassins Creed, Splinter Cell is Considered  Ubisoft’s flagship franchises, selling more than 22 million copies as of June 2010.

The latest Splinter Cell game called Blacklist, is hot off the shelf, released on August 20 2013. We’ve had some brief gaming time with it, and out first impressions are awesome. If you love stealth type first person shooters ten this game is  must have.
