Comicbookmovie.com reports that fans of the Electronic Arts video game “Dante’s Inferno”, will be very excite to hear that the “Evil Dead” director Fede Alvarez is set to direct a live action adaptation of the Hack and slash video game. “Dante’s Inferno” is based on Dante Alighieri’s 14th-century epic poem “Divine Comedy”.

The video game is praised for it’s disturbing visual depiction of Hell

The story revolves around a knight who travels through the nine circles of Hell to reclaim the soul of his beloved Beatrice from the hands of Lucifer.

“Dante’s Inferno (2015) will be produced by Eric Newman and Marc Abraham alongside EA Entertainment Vice President Patrick O’Brien. The script drafted by Bruce McKenna (“The Pacific”), is being finalised by Jay Basu (“Monsters: Dark Continent”). The project will be undertaken by Universal Pictures.

This is a project to keep on an eye on, with Alvarez attached we can expect something exceptional. Alvarez’s “Evil Dead” was a  success at the box office grossing over $97,5 million worldwide. Check out our “Evil Dead” review, the gory horror film was released in March. Alvarez is expected to direct the upcoming sequel.
