The Lone Ranger has officially hit the cinemas this week, after reports of a troubled and expensive production. Box office predictions going in to the week, were pretty low and the film performed as expected. The film opened to a ‘weak’ $9.6 million box office on Wednesday, the first day it was in theaters in the US.

One would expect with the very decorate Oscar nominated Gore Verbinski (director of the Pirates of the Caribbean -The Black Pearl) at the helm directing the project, and Johnny Depp in the lead as the star, ‘The Lone Ranger’ would have exceeded expectations. The film has already screened for critics and it seems it is more bad news for ‘The Lone Ranger”. The TOMATOMETER has not been kind as the critics weighed in at a very poor collaborated score of 23% at the time of this article. The rumored budget and script issues are evident in the films box office and rating performance.

‘The Lone Ranger’ opened on July 3rd, and in addition to starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, also stars William Fichtner, Ruth Wilson, Tom Wilkinson, Helena Bonham Carter, James Badge Dale, Barry Pepper, Bryant Price, and JD Cullum.
