Jessica Nigri is a cosplayer and promotional model. She first gained attention at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con, at which she appeared as Pikachu (one of the species of Pokémon creatures from the Pokémon media franchise). After winning a contest hosted by IGN, Nigri was chosen to portray Juliet Starling, the protagonist of the video game Lollipop Chainsaw (hack and slash zombie video game).

During her promotion at Penny Arcade Expo East in 2012, Nigri was asked to change her costume, a bright pink body suit with a “neckline” that plunged past the navel, or leave the show floor to comply with the show’s costume policy. Nigri left the show floor, changing into another Juliet Starling costume she wore previously with no issue, but was again told she violated costume policy. Nigri was invited to Anime Expo 2012 as a Guest of Honor, but she had to cancel her appearance due to a family issue.
“Have FUN. If you aren’t having fun you are not doing it right. Cosplay to me means friendship. It means finding other people who totally dig what you dig and getting along because of the intense amount of likeness between the different groups of people. As far as describing myself as a cosplayer? I would say I am very new and laid back. I still have so much to learn.”
